Celebrating the life-long love of a man and woman for each other is the sacrament of Matrimony. Family and friends celebrate with the bride and groom as a special mass unites them with God together. Their presence is a promise of the love and support of the Christian community. The sign of this sacrament is the exchange of vows. A vow is a solemn promise to be true to each other in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health. After the vows, the bride and groom usually exchange rings, as a sign of their covenant to each other. The bride wears white as a sign of the new life they are beginning together with God. The couples' love grows as it is rooted in trust, support, forgiveness and love... and service to each other throughout their lives.
