For those who are in need of the Lord’s sacramental touch and blessing in times of sickness. This sacrament is intended for those who are ill or infirm. Annointing of the Sick takes place immediately following the 9:00 am Mass on the first Friday of every month. Our pastor, Fr. Manny, also carries the oil of the sick with him, and can anoint someone upon request after any Mass. Otherwise, please contact the Parish Office to schedule an appointment to celebrate the healing rites of the Church with you and your loved ones.
See Mark 6:7-13; James 5: 14-16
The other sacrament of healing in addition to Reconciliation is the Anointing of the Sick. During this sacrament, the Church brings healing, comfort, and strength to those who are ill, elderly or in danger of death. A priest administers this sacrament because the individual's sins are forgiven. The oil of the sick and laying on of hands by the priest are the symbols of this beautiful sacrament that can be received more than once if necessary. As St. Paul said about the Body of Christ, If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it (1 Corinthians 12:26); therefore, the Church reaches out to the suffering with the healing of the anointing. As the Body of Christ, we are called to visit the sick, pray for them often, and look for ways to be a sign of Jesus' love and care for them.
