ADORATION – DAILY & 1ST FRIDAY


Spending time in meditation, prayer, and adoration in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament is an excellent opportunity to experience grace in our lives.

Participants can come:

  • daily
  • at a committed time period each month
  • 24-Hour Adoration on the first Friday of each month

Daily Adoration times are as follows:

  • Tuesday – 12:00pm to 6:00pm
  • Wednesday – 9:30am to 12:00pm
  • Thursday – 9:30am to 2:00pm
  • Friday – 9:30am to 3:00pm

ALTAR SERVER MINISTRY

Altar servers help to maintain a certain order by assisting the priest and the assembly during the Mass and at other prayerful events. Proper dress is required and  Training sessions are provided on a regular basis.

ALWAYS OUR CHILDREN MINISTRY

Dedicated to providing an environment of compassionate listening and support for parents who have children with homosexual orientation. Christian confidentiality respected.

BAPTISM MINISTRY

A dedicated group of lay leaders prepare parents and godparents to understand and appreciate the responsibilities that come with the sacrament of baptism. They stress the duty of the parents in the ongoing faith formation of the child.

BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT MINISTRY

This ministry provides spiritual and emotional support and the love of Christ to people experiencing grief due to loss, transition or crisis. Members may send cards, offer condolences, and invite those grieving to attend special Masses.

The parish that plays together; stays together. This ministry provides an opportunity to socialize, build community, offer lunch and have fun.

BREAKING OPEN THE WORD

We meet once a week to engage prayerfully with the Word of God. We base our meeting on the readings of the upcoming Sunday to better prepare our hearts for a meaningful celebration of Sunday Mass. Meetings are held on Wednesdays at 10am in the Church.

BULLETIN MINISTRY

Our Sunday bulletin is one of our most important tools for communicating with our parish family on a weekly basis. Individuals are needed regularly to help different aspects of the bulletin, from collection of information to be used to stuffing them with flyers.

CATECHIST MINISTRY

Santa Maria del Mar’s Catechist Ministry continues the mission of Christ by sharing the good news. Adults are needed to assist in teaching and witnessing to God’s Word. Each religious education program embodies hospitality, prayer, formation and service. The catechist Ministry also offers classes for children with special needs.

COLD WEATHER MINISTRY

Teams visit the homeless shelter to provide hospitality to homeless housed during extreme cold weather.  Activities include, but are not limited to, cooking, serving food, and cleaning up afterwards. It is hard work, but very rewarding.

With the heart of a servant, members of this ministry helps with kitchen prep, cooking and clean up for the many events and activities held at SMdM. If you have a cooking talent, or just would like to help, then your talents are needed.

DIVINE MERCY CHAPLET

Participants in this special devotion, in which Jesus reveals special ways to live out the response to His mercy, recite the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 3pm Monday through Friday.

Activities of this group educate and inspire parishioners to adopt a lifestyle of a deeper reverence and respect for God’s creation, and also encourages the community to address environmental problems.

EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist have the special responsibility of assisting the priest in the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ at Mass. They receive the opportunity for spiritual enrichment to help deepen their faith and reverence for the sacred presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist.

FAMILY TO FAMILY MINISTRY

This ministry provides food to families in need that have children enrolled in Flagler County schools.  Volunteers are needed to bring nonperishable food to the Learning Center once a month or to sponsor a family. Distribution to the families served occur on the first Friday of every month.

FINANCE COUNCIL

The Finance Council assists the pastor in all aspects of the parish’s financial administration. The councils expertise ensures the financial integrity of the parish and all its financial dealings. Potential candidates are interviewed by the Pastor.

GIFT SHOP MINISTRY

The shop sells many beautiful religious articles for all occasions and sacramental preparation. We have Baptism Sets, Confirmation, First Communion and Marriage items, as well as for Anointing of the Sick. Volunteers assist in sales, customer service, inventory, pricing, merchandising and general cleaning.

GIRL SCOUT MINISTRY

Fun activities and service projects help girls learn about themselves and others while developing physically, emotionally, and spiritually.  Volunteers are invited to help with the various meetings and projects of the scouting program.

GRANDPARENTS PARENTING AGAIN

This special ministry exists to offer encouragement, as well as tools and support, to grandparents who have the special opportunity to parent their grandchildren.

GREETERS

Greeters create a hospitable environment by cheerfully welcoming parishioners and visitors as they enter the church for Mass. This is a great ministry for individuals or families.

GROUNDS & MAINTENANCE MINISTRY

Parishioners with experience in buildings and grounds maintenance help to manage the upkeep of church property. In addition to consulting, they are involved in hands-on maintenance projects which include carpentry, electrical, plumbing, masonry, and landscaping. They also prepare buildings for meetings and activities.

HEALING MINISTRY

With the guidance of the Holy Spirit, members of this ministry are available to pray with individuals for spiritual, physical, and emotional healing. A special healing service is available each month and led by members of this ministry.

JUST FAITH MINISTRY

Just Faith seeks to transform parishes by forming parish leaders who are committed to social justice. Parishioners who join participate in a training period during which
they thoroughly study the Church’s teaching on social justice issues. They will listen to various speakers, watch instructional videos, and read different books. They also participate in hands-on volunteer efforts.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS MINISTRY

The Knights of Columbus is a fraternal service organization of men, founded under the principles of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism. This organization provides men with a vehicle for building up the parish community and family life with an emphasis on family, youth, church, council, and community activities.

LEGION OF MARY

The main purpose of the Legion of Mary is to give glory to God through the sanctification of its members through devotion to the Blessed Mother. This is the largest apostolic organization of lay people in the Church, and their aim is to meet the needs of the parish community through prayer, visits and works of mercy.

LIBRARY HELP MINISTRY

Our parish library houses an extensive collection of books, periodicals, audio and video tapes, and equipment for the use of parishioners. Volunteers assist in organizing and maintaining our parish library.

LIFE TEEN

Life Teen is a dynamic program that brings 9th to 12th grade students into a living relationship with God and each other. With a love for the Eucharist and a belief in the vitality of our faith, Life Teen participants help shape our parish and prepare themselves to spread the Gospel. Life Teen Masses, Retreats and other special activities will be held throughout the year.

MARRIAGE SPONSOR COUPLE MINISTRY

Because the Church cherishes couples in their lifelong commitment to each other, Sponsor couples work with the pastor in providing formation and support before the  Wedding day. Married couples are needed to guide engaged couples during this sacred time of preparation.

MEN’S FELLOWSHIP GROUP

A group of men who meet twice a month for prayer, reflection on scripture, and spiritual discussion. The session lasts exactly one hour. After the meeting, there is time for food and fellowship.

MICHELLE’S ANGELS MINISTRY

MUSIC MINISTRY

Unlike performance musicians, the members of the music ministry produce song out of sheer love, in praise of God, assisting parishioners in their efforts to pray. Various
groups include the Adult Choir, Children’s Choir, Life Teen Choir (5pm Sunday) and Cantors that compliment, support and enhance the spirituality of each event.

NATURAL FAMILY PLANNING MINISTRY

Natural Family planning classes teach couples about natural family planning in response to the churches teaching on the gospel of life. Teachers of this class must be certified. All couples are invited to learn more about how God cooperates with them in the planning of a family.

Neo-Catechumen meet every Tuesday for Liturgy of the Word from 7 – 8:30 pm in the Chapel and for Mass every Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel.

R.C.I.A. (RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS

R.C.I.A. is a process of formation, prayer and faith sharing in a group that leads a participant into full communion with the Catholic Church. Instructors walk with R.C.I.A. candidates on their journey of faith. Acting as a liaisons with the parish, they help candidates as they integrate their lives into the social and ministerial life of the faith community.

ROSARY

Members of our parish have historically had a strong devotion to the Blessed Mother through praying the Rosary. Volunteers are always needed to lead the Rosary. Anyone is welcome to pray the Rosary Wednesday to Friday at 8:15am in the chapel.

SMdM SPIRITUAL UNIVERSITY MINISTRY

Members of this ministry participate in Bible Study discussions of the Sunday Mass readings, breakout groups to empower understanding of Church teachings, and classes to broaden knowledge of Scripture. There are also courses for Catholics to refresh their knowledge of the Church’s teachings and traditions. On occasion, stand-alone sessions or multi-part series covering topics of special interest to Catholics about contemporary issues and their impact on the Church are offered, or guest presentations touching on a variety of other interesting topics.

SPIRITUAL DIRECTORS GUILD

Several Santa Maria del Mar parishioners have been trained in “the art of arts,” Spiritual Direction. They meet once a month with Father Al to pray, to reflect on their role in the Church as spiritual directors, and to share how God is moving in their hearts as they listen to His people. These spiritual directors are available to parishioners who have a desire to grow in relationship with God in prayer.

The Stewardship Committee seeks to make stewardship a way of life at Santa Maria del Mar by encouraging parishioners to share their time, talent, and treasure within the parish and beyond. St. Vincent de Paul members evaluate needs and provide compassion and support to individuals in need, regardless of race, origin, religion or gender. St. Vincent de Paul

THE L.A.M.P.

A program for Pre-K to 5th graders of our parish the L.A.M.P. emphasize learning and practicing the skills and habits, virtues and spiritual gifts that lead students to higher levels of moral thinking and a deeper initiation into a life of prayer and sacramental celebration. We believe our Faith Formation program, along with the joyful spirituality we celebrate at Santa Maria del Mar, will lead young disciples and their families to grow in their conversion to Jesus Christ and live as active members of the Catholic Church.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL MINISTRY

Vacation Bible School provides an experience of Jesus’ love and Christian community for 4 to 8 – year olds. The program consists of Bible stories, Bible teachings, prayer experiences, crafts, and sing-a-longs. Many volunteers are needed in all aspects of VBS.

The parish has volunteer wedding coordinators who help couples plan their wedding liturgies from start to finish. They help them choose the scripture readings and music, as well as direct the wedding rehearsal and the actual wedding liturgy.
